Carlos Salazar - Chairperson
Carlos Salazar has been a member of the Mike Metcalfe 30 Hour Soccer Marathon organization committee since the inception of the event and has been Chairperson since December 2006. Carlos became involved in the event as a friend and teammate of Mike's. He originally was a member of the Organization Committee from Vancouver and has taken on increased involvement since moving back to Calgary in February 2006. In between a professional career at KPMG and staying active, Carlos has been able to help the Organization Committee grow our event and hopefully reach our 2008 target of $80,000.

Richard Antl – Vice Chair
Richard Antl was one of the founding members of the Mike Metcalfe 30 Hour Soccer Marathon as a friend and teammate of Mike’s. Richard’s latest role with the organizing committee has seen him managing the redevelopment of our website (he hopes you like it) and the implementation of online donations. Outside of his activities with the marathon, Richard works with CIBC World Markets and loves the great outdoors. He continues to play soccer with many of the members from the organizing committee who helped found this event.

Katie Salazar- Team and Participant Liaison
Katie Salazar has been a member of the Organizing Committee since it began in 2004. Katie originally became involved through other committee members, but has returned every year because of the uniqueness and success of the annual event. Originally responsible for volunteers and participants, she is focused on liaising with all team and individual players for the marathon.  When not teaching elementary school, she is traveling and enjoying the outdoors.  This year, she hopes to help the soccer marathon beat its fundraising goal of $80,000 and celebrate its 5th year.

Martin Egli - Participant Liaison
Martin Egli is one of the original members of the Mike Metcalfe 30 hour Soccer Marathon organization committee. He has been involved in Calgary soccer for over 20 years and became friends with Mike while they were teammates in their early men's league years. Martin was thrilled that a couple years after Mike's battle with cancer he could bring a healthy Mike to the fold of his current Villains Alumni men's league team. Martin spends his days working for Marketplace Events and finding ways of helping the marathon attain it's goal of providing support to Alberta cancer patients and their families.

Mads Bladt - Operations
Mads Bladt has been involved in the 30 Hour Mike Metcalfe Soccer Marathon since the inception of the event as a teammate and friend. Mads has coordinated communication with the various soccer associations and the Calgary Soccer Center as well as the set up of the facility and fields during the event. Mads is currently employed in the Oil and Gas industry as an Analyzer Technician. Mads has seen the event grow from one field to multiple fields and an increase in participation year after year and hopes to continue on with our goals by reaching $80000 for the event in 2008.

Chris McKinnon – Prizing/Sponsorship
Chris McKinnon has been involved with the Mike Metcalfe 30 Hour Soccer Marathon for the last four years.  This is his first year as a member of the organization committee, but he has been involved as a participant and part time volunteer for years.  Chris played soccer with Mike and many of the committee members as a teenager and the ongoing friendship with Mike is a major reason for getting more involved in the event.  Chris believes that an event like this requires dedicated, passionate and positive people like Mike and all of the volunteers, to continue its success and believes he can help in this way.  He currently works at Brava Bistro in the heart of the Red Mile as a server, and still plays soccer with Mike.

Honor Humphreys - Volunteer Coordinator
Honor Humphreys has been involved with the Mike Metcalfe 30 Hour Soccer Marathon since the first event in 2004. She participated as a volunteer during the first two years and joined the committee in 2006 as the Volunteer Coordinator. Honor was recruited by friends on the organizing committee in 2004 and asked to take a leadership role due to her experience leading volunteers with other large-scale events raising money for cancer research in Alberta.
Honor is excited to contribute to achieving the leadership team's goals of another successful event measured by increased recruitment of players and volunteers and raising $80,000 for the 2008 event.

Mark Groves - Sponsorship/Prizing

Since then, with all of the momentum and positive energy,Mark has been swept up in the unbelievable passions of those involved in the program and effected by our successes. Mark works in the healthcare industry, and is an avid soccer player, snowboarder, and loves any form of watersports. Mark wants to see more new enrollment, and definitely more money raised by the participants in 2008.

Teri first got involved with the Soccer Marathon when her friends asked her to join in 2006. Since then, Teri has managed all media onsite and prior to the event, as well as manage the facebook page (yay members). In her regular life, Teri works with Marketplace Events producing home shows in Calgary. Teri loves the positive energy surrounding the event and loves how much the event really helps better the care that Calgarians affected by cancer receive.
